Regarding Q 89: Why Eastern Himalayas cant be the answer?
Eastern Himalayas doesn’t have natural monsoon evergreen forests
It has to be eastern Himalayas only.must be a typo.
Only eastern Himalayas . Andaman nicobar and western side of western ghats have evergreen forests in india
Hi Insights Team @insightsprelimstestseries:disqus: Could you please clarify on this? It will help!!
Eastern Himalayas will be the answer. Evergreen vegetation is abundantly found in the Eastern Himalayas not in Western Himalayas. We will update it in the corrigendum. Thank you.
TEST 24 – INSIGHTS TEST SERIES 2015
Question 22 :
As per the answer the level of dissolved oxygen can be depleted by photosynthetic activity of aquatic plants .
How is it possible?
because oxygen and sunlight are very essential for photosynthetic activity….even when organic pollutants like decaying aquatic plants also reduce DO because microorganisms consume it for bio degradation…..
By photosynthetic activity oxygen will be produced by these plants…then how can it be depleted
The option says” photosynthetic activity of aquatic plants” not decomposition or respiration
ya that’s only photosynthetic activity means to prepare their food they consume DO…hence it will be depleted
Photosynthetic activity will increase the DO levels, not reduce them. The correct answer will be option (b) “2 and 4 only”. If there are further such queries about the last year test series, do let us know. 🙂
TEST SERIES 2015
Test 25: Question 2
The correct option says Urea contains NPK…But urea contains only nitrogen …the ratio being 46:0:0
Then should’nt the answer be ” 1& 2 only”?
@Insights Prelims Test Series: ur response during initial days of the test series was really good but now its totally worst…….i have been asking questions from last 12 days repeatedly but there is no response from ur side……….for a doubt to be clarified we cant wait for so many days…..this post now doesnt mean that u were replying well before 1 month or so…..this post now is bcoz exam is too close now………and yes u r forcing us to revise the wrong answers given in ur pdf of the tests……u shud understand how important it is and from last 3 months u have been ensuring us about corrigendum but no progress in it too….its high time u shud consider the above comment…..plz atleast reply to it
Exactly….now even for Test series of 2015 answers i have become skeptical and its time consuming to google and check the answers….Insights had said that they would provide the correct answers at least part by part…like test 1-10 then 10-20 and so on…but even those are not provided and they have even stopped replying to students who ask for it …
Dear Insights,
Totally understandable that you have a lot on your plate now but would be grateful if you become a bit empathetic and understand our position too.
Thanks

Dear, corrigendum was prepared long back, but we could not post it on dashboard for multiple reasons. We are posting it here on this Discussion page. Thank you.
Thanks. But I can’t find the link. Please Help.
It has now been posted at the top of this page. 🙂
Dear,
We had requested you earlier to post your comments in reply to our Disqus comments. You have posted only one doubt (a day ago) in reply to our comments. Please do not tag us, Disqus doesn’t notify us and we are unaware of most of your doubts since it is not possible to go through the discussion pages of all the past tests each day. We hope you understand. We’ll try to address your queries soon. 🙂
Corrigendum too has been prepared long back, but we could not post it on dashboard for multiple reasons. We are posting it here on this Discussion page. Thank you.
yes its true that i used to tag you rather than replying to ur comments but after receiving the earlier reply of yours regarding where to post, as u said i used to post in the latest link provided by u…for ex: if the latest test was test 23 i used to post in it. anyways thanks for ur reply
Hi @insightsprelimstestseries:disqus
Though I feel decently satisfied with my performance, I am unable to assess whether I am performing up to the standards of the competition.
I scored 125 in this particular test. Taking into account the difficulty level, would you say this indicates a good chance for me to clear the prelims?
110+ is a good score considering the moderate difficulty level of the test. 🙂 Please be consistent, it will be easier to sail through Prelims.

Dear Insights
In Q 22,wudn’t the answer be A) 1 and 2 only.Religious laws were the sidelines of IPC right?
No…warren hastings started two types of courts…DIWANI ADALAT-these were civil courts and were administered on the basis of hindu law for hindus and muslim law for muslims…second type of courts were FAUJDARI ADALAT-these were criminal courts…and these were put under an indian officer who was assisted by qazis and muftis who used muslim law to deliver justice…moreover IPC was first given by MACAULAY in 1835…
Thanks for the clarification bro
My pleasure buddy…
@INSIGHTS
I am not doing answer practice properly….I write answers rarely and I make notes sometimes.

Question 94
Isn’t ‘Assertion’ is CORRECT ? Because, A Volcanic eruption is ALWAYS accompanied by an Earthquake. But not vice-versa.
Question 100
But ,the Fourth Buddhist Council was held at KUNDALA VANA, KASHMIR.
94. The answer given is correct since not every volcanic eruption will cause an earthquake. Only when the movement of magma weakens the faults around the volcano can it cause an earthquake. This is also the reason why every volcanic region is not a region of earthquakes. However nearly 75-80% convergence between both zones can be found.
95. It is said that the Sarvastivada tradition fourth Buddhist council was convened at Kasmir, but the Theravada tradition does not recognize this council. The Theravada fourth Buddhist council was held in Sri Lanka as mentioned in the question.
Regarding Q 94, will you please suggest some source? I thought that the magma movement during volcanic eruption will always cause an earthquake!
Volcanoes result in ground shaking also, not earthquakes at all times. Ground shaking and earthquakes are different things.
Confusing ground shaking with EQ?

Test 23 – Q95) HFC’s do contribute to ozone layer depletion(in a small but measurable amount) according to a recent NASA study. Please clarify. Below is the link of the article.
http://www.nasa.gov/press-release/goddard/nasa-study-shows-that-common-coolants-contribute-to-ozone-depletion
As per the NASA research, it does. They have disproved a long-held assumption which was also the basis of including HFC in many international climate change negotiations.
We are not sure if UPSC will notice this new research, since we have observed they usually rely on old and often outdated sources. However, we will add a clarification note on this in the 3rd set of corrigendum. Thank you for informing. 🙂
Greetings InsightsTeam,
Would that make it a part of Montreal Protocol automatically?
No, unless the parties amend the Protocol, it will not be a part of it. 🙂
Where is the corrigendum for test 11 to 24..please upload it asap..we are facing difficulties…..& time is now too short..
They will be uploaded and shared in few days. Thank you. 🙂
wrt q76 (test 24) how to know whether the ques is referring to saving interest rate or lending interest rate.
Both the lending rate and the savings rate are aligned. An increase in one means increase for both. However, the rate may be at different levels, but their movement is aligned.
Further, for investment, lowering of either of the rates, savings or lending rates, is a push towards investment.
If saving earns lesser interest, one would want to invest the money instead of saving in banks. Investment can possibly earn more returns.
Likewise, if the bank lending rate is lowered, there will be an attraction towards taking more money from the banks to invest. This is because, the returns from the investment would possibly be more than the interest that is needed to be paid on the loan. Therefore, there will be profit out of such loans from bank.
Thus, lowering of both the lending and saving rates will be beneficial for investment.
Can u tell me that from where i can get the solutions of all of these questions? There is no any information in that corrigendum?
I didnt find any appendix attached nor did I find any corrigendum on the dashboard.
Okay…
thank you very much
Hello Sir-Just a Request can you please include India Perspective magazine’s content in the future tests or daily quizzes, this magazine seems important and is published by MEA GOI.

Thanks
Check the typo error in your Corrigendum pdf… Test 3, Question 46 (You have written question 45 instead of 46, which is wrong). Plz do not make suck mistakes.
wrt ques5 test -24, can you please provide the name of the traveller who described india as a land of poor but of immense spiritual wealth? Thanks.
It was a doctored statement. 🙂
wrt q76 (test 24) how to know whether the ques is referring to saving interest rate or lending interest rate.
dear it is about repo rate decided by RBI in monetary policy
No. Its not about repo.
yeah …ryt..i got it wrong…i thought it from investment through monetary policy
Whenever you find the term interest rate mentioned in macroeconomic situations, please take it to be the lending rate.
Regarding Q51, explanation says the opposite what it meant to convey please clarify.TA
We did not find any such consistency, please point it specifically.
Doubt cleared sir, apologies for wasting your time. Thanks
Appendix to corrigendum of test 1-10 is missing for the incomplete ques. Of test 7. Please provide the link of the same.
It’s mentioned in corrigendum that correct version of test 7 incomplete ques can be found in appendix attached to it, but there is no appendix attached to it.
Regarding Q71, How statement 1 and 3 shows that India is a mixed economy.
In US, UK , etc there is a regulation of pvt activities by State and Govt infuses fiscal stimulus as well seen in post 2008 crisis.
Please clarify.
So that should tell us that even US and UK are not fully capitalist countries. In the past, they subscribed to this idea of solely market driven economy. But, when this approach created problems for the economy, these economies introduced state roles in their economies. In fact, US introduced state role as early as in 1930s, after the Great Depression. Even UK has reconciled with the idea of wholly market driven economy. In India, these features (as given in the explanation) make its economy a mixed economy due to the state having a very important role to play in the economy. US and UK have state intervention in still milder form, which make it somewhat less mixed economy and more tilted towards capitalist economy.
USA and UK are not extreme capitalist economies where state does not play any role.
Almost every economy of today is a mixed economy, where some form of government regulation, state enterprises, public services, government financial support exists with private enterprises.

Wasn’t the 4th Buddhidt council called-in by Kanishka in Kashmir?!
What has Sri Lanka got to do with it?
It is said that the Sarvastivada tradition fourth Buddhist council was convened at Kasmir by Kanishka, but the Theravada tradition does not recognize this council. The Theravada fourth Buddhist council was held in Sri Lanka as mentioned in the question.
If upsc asks this question, then which of the 4th Buddist council should be chosen??
They would clarify in the question statement. Also, the options would be set in a way that the answer will be clear. 🙂
m not able to get answer to this question..
pls explain.
Heat tries to neutralize the surroundings and tries to bring the temperature of any matter at same temperature. As the matter is at same temperature, so the correct option is b. Conduction occurs when two object at different temperatures are in contact with each other. Heat flows from the warmer to the cooler object until they are both at the same temperature. So, if two objects are at same temperature, heat wont flow.
For heat to flow, there must be temperature gradient (difference in temperature). Since no difference in temperature, NO HEAT FLOW
even i thought about gradient difference..
but watched this video at unacademy..
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btj84H9mRFg
go to last 30 seconds of this video.. although he doesnt explain fully but says heat will flow..
Well! what he says is actually right
Total heat transfer is zero. But heat flow is not!
But then look at the options.. They all talk about ‘net heat transfer’. So option B is your best bet
Doubts:
Question : 33
explanation is okay and as per explanation correct answer must be “A”
Question : 54
Western coastal plains are submerged plain as per answer.. As I understand, western coasts are raised bcz of arabian sea..
I might be wrong also but not sure. so pls carify on this.
Question :60
Second Swadeshi Movement??? when was first?? i didn’t notice while reading history book.
if there was any first swadeshi movement also.. pls give a reference..
thanks alot sir, I think this paper was relatively easier. Is it so??
33. Bodies do not become permanent/non-permanent by the virtue of the President appointing them. The constitutional/legal/executive provisions are the reasons behind the nature of the body.
54. The northern portion of the Western coasts is submerged due to faulting of crust. Hence, a part of its is submerged, and thus the other part over water seems to be raised with respect to the Arabian sea.
60. It will be more appropriate to call it the second phase of the Swadeshi movement. Please see it here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swadeshi_movement
The paper was of moderate difficulty level. Full-length tests will be closer to UPSC difficulty level. 🙂
Question 60 :
can u pls give reference from NCERT or Bipin Chandra mentioning 1905 to be 2nd swadeshi movement .. bcz in that case we can say NCM CDM Quit India sab pehle ho chuka h..
bcz all this activities in some aspect had always appeared from 1800 to 1905 in different places due to localised factors like, peasant, tribal movement or 1857 rebellion..
Question 54:
when I read statement in question and answer together, I understand it in this sense:
Western Coastal Plains + provides natual condition (eg. JNPT, Kochi) + due to submerged plains.
JNPT & Kochi port don’t even have beaches, so I understand that sea is submerged under coast.
p.s. : it is true that kandla port is on submerged coast, but subject under consideration is not kandla / other north western port, rather natural ports are subject under consideration.
Sir, I may be wrong but I asked same question again so that you can clarify it in more detail. 🙂
Thanks alot Sir.
@insightsprelimstestseries:disqus Doubt regarding question 33
laxmikanth page 15.2 says that in pursuance of the Sarkaria commission recommendations to create a permanent council –> Inter-State council was established in 1990 which is permanent right? Then why is the Assertion correct?
Also unrelated to question: on the same page its written that a Central council of Medicine and Homeopathy were set up under acts of Parliament.. but nothing in the preceding paragraphs mention any powers given to the Parliament for the same.. Does this mean both President and Parliament can set up inter state councils? Please clarify
Please see this http://interstatecouncil.nic.in/formations.html
In Ques 53, solution says :Hangul is an endangered species. Is it so? I think it is classified as Critically endangered.
CR
@insightsprelimstestseries:disqus Q33) Laxmikant says janata dal govt. established inter state council in 1990 on recommendations of sarkaria commission. It further says that the council may meet atleast thrice in a year. Please refer page 15.2 and 15.3 and clarify. Thank you
Please see this http://interstatecouncil.nic.in/formations.html 🙂
@insightsprelimstestseries:disqus Q53 IUCN status of Hangul (Kashmir Stag) is critically endangered according to wiki and Least concerned acc to IUCN website and Endangered in your solution.. Please Clarify which is correct
http://www.sanctuaryasia.com/magazines/conservation/10115-a-critical-note-on-the-status-of-hangul-kashmir-deer.html This says it was Critically endangered before clubbed as least concern by IUCN
We will add a clarification note on this in the corrigendum. But certainly, Kashmir Stag is no longer a species of “Least Concern”.
Hai Could you Send me the List of Species That are Threatened ,if You have Any .Thank You.
Q89.
how evergreen forest can be found in the western himalaya
i think answer should be eastern himalya
ya it is found estern himalya(narth east region),western ghat,andman nicobar,orissa coast…
The correct answer is Eastern Himalayas. It was a typo. We will update it in the corrigendum.
Hi Insights,
Q2 – I know that this is framed from UPSC 2015 question.
I got that wrong in 2015 Prelims – Its apparently ITCZ and not sea surface temperatures being low – BTW this is also one of the two questions Insights got wrong;
I got that wrong now too, I marked B – that Assertion is not explained by Reason;
UPSC can be very subjective – if not for its key today I would have marked A; 🙂
How to get around this subjectivity? Can you please suggest..?
Dear, we still believe that the two questions we got wrong were not actually wrong. The UPSC answer key can be challenged on these two answers.
Many sources mention sea surface temperatures to be the reason for the tropical cyclones not regularly being formed in the South Atlantic Ocean.
So, in some matters it is hard to decide what is correct, what is not. A better way is to aim scoring n the higher side so that subjectivity doesn’t affect selection in Prelims.
http://www.aoml.noaa.gov/hrd/tcfaq/G6.html
This source specifically mentions that sea surface temperatures are not the primary reason.
And moreover a closer look at sea surface temperatures tells us the they are not very cold.
http://www.ospo.noaa.gov/data/sst/contour/satlanti.cf.gif
Thank you for sharing the source. ITCZ has been mentioned as a clear primary reason, but the source doesn’t discuss the other reasons, nor does it deny that sea surface temperatures are colder than required to generate a cyclone (the phrase “too cold” is ambiguous).
We would look more on this issue, and issue a clarification note in the corrigendum, if required. 🙂

I didn’t understand clearly the concept and explanation of question no.5…please clarify the question and following points with more examples-
1.The actual reason is velocity of money. The same money changes hands and used by
multiple people are different times to buy difference goods.
2.So, the actual money
supply in India is less than 15% of the total value of goods and services it purchases.
plz explain-
Even LPG is subsidized, but it is not a public good.
why?according to your justification lpg is also a public good…plz clarify
Q80. How can reverse repo affect liquidity??
Till the time RBI dont demand for lending, How can banks forcefully lend to RBI with high reverse repo (submit more fund)?
Rev-Repo is a direct tool to control inflation or liquidity in the hands of central bank that is RBI. Rev-Repo is exact opposite of Repo rate.
When RBI increases Rev-Repo (generally for very short time) it means banks will get more interest rate than lending other Customers and companies, which is always riskier for banks. Reverse Repo is used by RBI to suck money from banking system. Thus it helps RBI to check liquidity in the economy.
applaud for maintaining high accuracy as compared to other test series…

Hi @insightsprelimstestseries:disqus : If this is not as too much of ask, Could you please advise me on this?
Ideally, you should revise both. If time is a luxury, please stick to 2016 only. We have covered a wide range of issues this year. 🙂
Thanks a lot Insights for quick reply 🙂

2.So, the actual money

It means that with the same amount of money, with people changing hands, goods worth far more in value can be bought. The 15% figure is not from the example, it is a figure quoted from the economic statistics of India. It has no relevance to the example.
Unrelated to the Prelims test series but need to ask.. Will the Secure synopsis initiative be resumed.. If not, please let us know.. So we can alter our plans accordingly..

I may be wrong, in that case please clarify.
Thanks alot Sir.
54. Your question is not very clear to us.
However, when we say a coast is submerged, all that should be understood is that ships are getting the required depth of anchoring near the coast. In such cases, the coast is not extending deep into the sea resulting in low depth of ocean water.
60. Your argument is correct that the NCM and CDM had all happened before. This is why the mention of second swadeshi movement was made only in the explanation so that no such confusion is caused in the question.
i was really confused on submergence and emergence of coast, now I got it clarified.
Thanks for this question so that I could fix coastline in my mind 😉
Dear Insights,
I will be highly obliged if you can please clarify my doubts of TEST SERIES 2015 on an urgent basis.
TEST SERIES 2015 ::
Test 25:
Question 2
The correct option says Urea contains NPK…But urea contains only nitrogen …the ratio being 46:0:0
Then should’nt the answer be ” 1& 2 only”?
Test 27 :
Question 27
If MOEF declares an animal as a vermin we are allowed to go inside the forests and hunt them???
There is no proper explanation to the question in the pdf . Please can you explain what all is allowed if an animal is declared to be a “vermin” since this is a burning topic this year as well.
Question 35
Can you please explain how will rise in sea levels may force marine life to poles from equator and how increased mineralization of sea water and increased phtoplanktons not affect.
The clarification in the pdf only provides it for rising sea temperatures.
Question 47
How is it that with continuous sea floor spreading in the mid oceanic ridges amounts to thin layers of sediments instead of thick layer even after so many years?
Question 54
As per the pdf the correct answer is statement 3 whereas EIA is concerned with social impact of a project.
Request clarification.
Question 72
Isnt statement 3 mixed cropping ?
Question 94
Does biopiracy include poaching and hunting to extract economically expensive parts and why ?
Question 97
Why is the answer ” a” instead of “d ” ?
Test 25: Q2 The Corrigendum 2015 addresses this issue. For Q2 It is A only, “1 and 2 only” as also clear from the explanation.
Test 27: Q27: Yes, they can be exterminated on a large scale without attracting penal provisions. You can see http://www.livemint.com/Politics/TSea6J0X9dNMS2eibTMW9M/Wild-pigs-declared-vermin-in-Uttarakhand-for-a-year.html
Q35. Mineralization actually means the release of organically bound nutrients in an inorganic form usable to organisms and/or plants. It is not related to Oceans. If we mean addition of more minerals in the ocean then this further encourages the growth of phytoplanktons which may actually promote marine life since . phytoplanktons form the base of marine food chain. Moreover, “increasing mineralization” is a very ambigous statement in itself. Mineralization where? To what extent? etc. Similarly “increased growth of phytoplanktons” where, to what extent? So, both are wrong statements in context of the question.
Q47. There are frequent volcanic explosions in mid-oceanic ridges. So, the new lava erupting from the volcanoes wedges into it, pushing the oceanic crust on either side. This spreads the ocean floor above the volcano on either sides. So, closer to the volcano it is always thinner as existing lava (ocean bed sediments) are taken away.
Q54. EIA does take into concern social, cultural and other concerns while evaluating development projects. SIA evaluates these parameters more exhaustively.
Q72. Crop rotation simply means that the succeeding crop belongs to a different family than the previous one. Whether this rotation is practiced on the entire peice of land at once, or achieved only on alternate rows results with be similar. In the alternate rows in the field, two different crops can be grown in different seasons alternatively.
Q94. Yes. The explanation is already clear about it. For e.g. an extracted part may hold an important medicinal or aesthitic value that has long been cherished by indigenous communities.
Q97. There are NO such bi-annual Parliamentary reviews. 🙂 So, statement 3 is wrong and the answer is A.
Thank you very much for the prompt clarifications…It is really helpful..

Q 4 : The question is talking about the Mughal period.
How come statement 2 is correct?
Q 13: Provided justification does not explain the actual reasons
Q 73: We follow manged floating exchange rate imo
So statement 2 is not entirely correct
4. In the question, it should have been “Medieval India” rather than “Mughal India”.
73. The statement that India “floats” its currency is different from saying we follow a “floating” or “managed exchange rate regime”. The currency is always floated in the international market, but at times RBI intervenes to halt its depreciation/appreciation.
plz explain-
Even LPG is subsidized, but it is not a public good.
why?according to your justification lpg is also a public good…
The explanation clearly tells that it is not a public good. The justification says, “A public good is a product that one individual can consume without reducing its availability to another individual”. LPG does not satisfy this criterion.

@insightsprelimstestseries:disqus How would u rate the difficulty level of test 25?
Q25-Which of the following may result in inflation? Import of goods which are in short supplyA. Tighter monetary policyB. Implementation of the 7th Pay Commission RecommendationsC. Public borrowing via bondsD
6th pay commission didnot led to much inflation as per the economic survey
plz clarify
hi plz bear my explanations on Q76
Investment in the economy can be boosted by
1. Lowering interest rates
Lowering interest rates only boosts investment from domestic sources NOT EXTERNAL sources. Whenever the interest rate is lowered external investors flee away. Hence, statement is true for specific set of investors not as a general rule.
plz correct me if i’m wrong.
A loose monetary policy helps all investors, whether domestic or foreign. It is the FII whcih may get affected by low interest rates. But, the investment in the question was concerned with gross capital formation, and not FII. The given answer is correct, even UPSC had given a similar statement, they consider this as correct. Thank you 🙂
Is 104 a good score?
It’s decent bro. I am in the same range. Don’t worry. Happy Studying ! Cheers.

Q53. IUCN website says that Hangul is “Least concerned”, answer’s explanation says that it is “Endangered” while wiki says “IUCN Red List status of Endangered is outdated, Kashmir Stag is a Critically Endangered as numbers have fallen to below 200 individuals as of 2008″… pls clarify

@insightsprelimstestseries:disqus
32. Please read the explanation carefully. The LPI for freshwater species shows an average decline of 76 per cent, which is more than both terrestrial and marine.
33. This one addresses the doubts http://interstatecouncil.nic.in/formations.html#subnav1_2
53. It is hard to tell which source is outdated. After going through more sources, we would issue a clarification on this in the corrigendum. The MoEF document doesn’t mention Hangul as a critically endangered species.
Thank you.
Hi, Do we have corrigendum for 2015 prelims test series?

regarding question no 25
you have said” implementation of 7th pay commission may result in inflation”.
but economy survey 2015-16 states that ” there may not be such impact regarding the implementation”
do correct me if i am wrong.
regards
Same doubt..plz answer??
Aren’t both the statements resting on possibility. Even the Economic survey says there ‘may’ not be such impact. Then again, the possibility of inflation due to increased money with people is there. Had the question said that the Pay commission implementation would surely result in inflation, then that would be a wrong statement, one reason being the statement in the Economic survey. In fact, the standard economics supports the idea that more money with people results in demand driven inflation. What economic survey says is a claim of government, which needs to be tested.
@insightsonindia,
Thanks for the beautiful questions.

Question no. 6
why option D. Arctic Sea is not correct?
Please see this http://nsidc.org/arcticseaicenews/map-of-the-arctic-ocean/
Clarifications for Test 24
2. UPSC official key for 2015 Prelims considers lack of ITCZ formation as a reason for less frequent cyclones in South Atlantic Ocean. We believe that it is also due to lower sea surface temperatures.
33. Please see this link http://interstatecouncil.nic.in/formations.html#subnav1_2
53. IUCN Website lists Hangul as species of Least Concern, but we believe the status is outdated. Hangul is listed under Schedule- I of the Indian Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 and Jammu & Kashmir Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1978 and has also been listed among the top fifteen species of high conservation priority by the Government of India.
67. Turkey borders Mediterranean Sea and Black Sea (not Caspian Sea).
73. The statement that India “floats” its currency is different from saying we follow a “floating” or “managed exchange rate regime”. The currency is always floated in the international market, but at times RBI intervenes to halt its depreciation/ appreciation.
89. The answer is option (a) Eastern Himalayas, not Western Himalayas.
94. A volcanic eruption can lead to groundshaking too, which should not be confused with earthquakes. So, statement A is incorrect, as neither all volcanic eruptions lead to earthquakes, nor is a volcanic eruption caused necessarily by an earthquake.
100. It is said that the Sarvastivada tradition fourth Buddhist council was convened at Kasmir by Kanishka, but the Theravada tradition does not recognize this council. The Theravada fourth Buddhist council was held in Sri Lanka as mentioned in the question.
53. Slight correction – Kashmir Stag not yet assessed by IUCN. As per IUCN website = This taxon has “not yet been assessed” for the IUCN Red List, but is in the Catalogue of Life: Cervus elaphus hanglu.
q. 73 “India floats its currency as well as maintains full current account convertibility”
but India puts “restrictions” on current acc. convertibility… Shouldn’t that be considered ?
In the general sense, there are no restrictions on Current Account Convertibility. Restrictions on imports/exports in public interest or economic security are not considered as restrictions per se.
There are however restrictions on Capital Account convertibility.
