UPSC Prelims REVISION – 2016 : Insights Revision Plan for UPSC Prelims – 2016

Insights Revision Plan for UPSC Prelims Exam 2016

Last year, on May 28th we started integrated approach to Prelims + Mains revision and it was hugely popular and successful. Again this year, we are coming up with a more refined and focused version. If you follow it, be sure of revising each and every part of Prelims syllabus both from Prelims and Mains perspective.

We believe that when you revise for prelims, you should also have an eye on Mains preparation. The content you read for prelims helps in writing better answers in Mains. Your focus should be on Prelims, yet the information which you gain now should be useful after Prelims when you start intensive answer writing practice. Hence, the revision program which we are going to start from June 1 will help you achieve this goal.

The program will help you revise (or even study it for the first time) entire prelims syllabus systematically. Prelims syllabus has 7 main parts:

  1. Current events of national and international importance.
  2. History of India and Indian National Movement.
  3. Indian and World Geography – Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World.
  4. Indian Polity and Governance – Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.
  5. Economic and Social Development Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector initiatives, etc.
  6. General issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change – that do not require subject specialization.
  7. General Science.

Insights Revision Plan for revision will provide you Daily Targets and names of sources to study for each of the above topics. The sources will include all NCERTs, Economic Survey-2016, India 2016 and all standard textbooks that we have recommended in our test series (for History only Bipan Chandra). You will not feel any extra burden. You will only be revising whatever you have studied till now, but with a focused approach. We will not burden you with extra load of sources unless something is extremely important.

Based on the targets provided, we will provide you Daily Revision tests (15-20 High Quality Questions) which will consist both Prelims and Mains questions.

Each of the Seven topics of prelims will be allotted 4-5 days. For example, first week for 4 days you will revise/read 6th Topic i.e. General issues on Environmental Ecology etc; then 5th Topic, and likewise you will finish entire syllabus during first 30 Days. Current events cycle will be kept last and will be given more days for revision.

After 30 days, Second round of revision will begin and by July 30, you will revise entire prelims syllabus twice.

You will need to push yourself hard to achieve daily targets. In fact, you will enjoy this tight schedule very much. Every day will be a productive day. By the end of the program, you will be super-confident about clearing Prelims.

To clear prelims, revision is the Key. The more you revise whatever you have read till now, the better will be your chances of clearing prelims. How you revise also matters. Revision should be systematic. It should not be haphazard – sometimes you might miss important areas and regret later.

The timetable which we will post next week will help you streamline your revision in an effective and productive way.  It will be systematic. Once you start following our timetable, you will start feeling that you are doing prelims preparation yet adding ammunition for Mains preparation as well.

The Detailed Timetable will be provided on 30th May (evening at 7 pm). The program starts from June 1, 2016.

Note: This plan covers only Paper – 1. This is Open for All and is a Free program.
