Instead of Tipu Jayanthi, Governments Should Strive to Implement Sachar Committee Report
Is Karnataka wrong in announcing Tipu Jayanthi? Why not focus on improving the quality of life of minorities instead of declaring Jayanthis? What purpose does such declarations serve? Don’t minority communities need their own heroes – just like every other community? What is wrong in declaring a jayanthi for Tipu even if he is imperfect? Didn’t he fight the British bravely long before Sepoy Mutiny? Why politicians are opposing this move by Karnataka? Aren’t they denying the right of minorities to have their heroes recognized and honoured by the state?
