Is the Office of President Necessary for India?
Why do we need a President? Some say that his office is burden on government’s coffers. Some say that his office is a mere rubber stamp. The election (selection) of Presidents in recent years has raised questions about their integrity. What purpose do they serve except on occasions of exercising discretionary powers? Why he is made the part of the Parliament? Can’t we just have rules in Parliament to replace his functions?
