Is English Necessary for Indians?
Some argue that English is slowly killing Indian languages. Some say that it is harming Indian languages instead of acting as complimentary to them. Educated youth prefer, especially in urban spaces, English as their spoken medium. Filmstars and the elite use it for day to day communication (at least as perceived by many). Some IAS aspirants find it difficult to qualify in their mother language in civil services exam thanks to their upbringing in English medium schools. The question is, can we live without English? Is it necessary for us to live our daily lives without facing difficulties?
