No Reduction in Number of Attempts or Age Limit for Civil Service Aspirants – Government Clarifies

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has clarified that the present structure of exam would continue even in 2015. The present maximum age limit and number of attempts for different categories will be the same for next year too.

At present Unreserved (General/Open) category aspirants have 6 attempts and the maximum age limit of 32 years; for OBC it is 9 attempts and 35 years; and for SC/ST unlimited attempts and 37 years.

Have no doubt about this and continue your exam preparation.

It is impossible that the government would  reduce number of attempts and maximum age limit even in future also. If they have something like this in their mind, they will provide window period of 3-4 years for aspirants to reconcile and clear the exam when they have their chances.

We on behalf of all of you congratulate The Hindu and the Government for clearing the air.

Postscript: Yesterday’s The Hindu report was stupid because the reporter didn’t bother to clarify with DoPT or seek information under RTI  before publishing the report on the Front Page. It wasted a precious day of thousands of aspirants and caused unwarranted anxiety for many of them. Nonetheless, its outcome was good. The government finally woke up. And acted swiftly. At least for lakhs of civil services aspirants, acche din are here to stay. 🙂
